LOS ANGELES RADIOLOGICAL SOCIETY

The 60th Annual Midwinter Radiology Conference, January 26-27, 2008 is Co-Chaired by George J. So, MD, MSE and Elizabeth O. Westfall, MD, for the LARS Continuing Education Committee.

Dr. So holds a BSEE, Electrical Engineering and BSE, Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan, and an MSE in Bioengineering from UC Berkeley and UC San Francisco. His MD is from the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine.  He completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology and fellowships in Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology and in Neuroradiology at UCLA.  He is Assistant Clinical Professor of Radiology at UCLA Medical Center and holds hospital appointments at both Torrance Memorial Medical Center and UCLA Center for Health Sciences.  Dr. So is responsible for the inception of the popular LARS-sponsored Radiology Classics, originally conceived of as a review program for residents and fellows preparing for oral boards, but growing in popularity with practicing physicians who want a review in the eleven radiological modalities.  He is the Senior Diagnostic Representative of the LARS Continuing Education Committee, a member of the LARS Board of Directors, Councilor, American College of Radiology, and member of the Society of Interventional Radiology, the American Society of Neuroradiology and the Radiological Society of North America.

Dr. Westfall received her BA from Princeton University in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and her MD from the University of Vermont College of Medicine.  She completed a Diagnostic Radiology residency at USC where she served as Chief Resident.  She subsequently completed a fellowship in MRI and Musculoskeletal Radiology at USC.  She is a board-certified radiologist and currently is the Vice Chair of the Department of Radiology at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ.  She also maintains hospital privileges at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ; at Verdugo Hills Hospital in Glendale, CA and at USC where she is a volunteer faculty member in the Department of Radiology.  Dr. Westfall is the Diagnostic Representative of the LARS Continuing Education Committee.  She also is the President of the USC radiology alumni and faculty organization (USC Society of Graduate Radiologists and Faculty).  She serves as an Outside Medical Consultant for the Arizona Medical Board reviewing radiology-related complaints registered with the Arizona Medical Board.  She is a member of the American College of Radiology, The American Roentgen Ray Society and The Radiology Society of North America.
