LARS/SCROS LEADERSHIP

The volunteers who share their time and energy to keep our society going are organized into five governing bodies:  The LARS Board of Directors, the SCROS Board of Directors, The Continuing Education Committee, The Nuclear Section Executive Committee and the Ultrasound Section Executive Committee.  The officers of these committees and board change on July 1 on either a one-year or a two-year basis.  Click here for a list of the 2006-2007 LARS/SCROS leaders. ACR Update

I was able to attend much of the ACR meeting this last month.  It was a good experience in that I not only was able to meet with leaders in our State organization, the CRS , but spend more time with our other local LARS members.  The ACR is an organization with 30,000 members including radiologists, radiation oncologists, medical physicists, interventional radiologists and nuclear medicine physicians.  Continue

This is my last opportunity to write a column here before Ken Lam takes over as the new president of SCROS on July 1.  First, I would like to thank Afshin Safa and Nancy Ellerbroek for their great work in making this year’s MidWinter meeting one of the best we have ever put on.  I would also like to thank Beth Fillip and Patricia Carmichael of the LARS/SCROS office for their always diligent efforts on our behalf. "A dark cloud has been cast over the house of imaging since the beginning of this year embodied by the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 (DRA).  Literally, overnight, behind closed doors, without due process, and ignoring the time tested Resource Based Relative Value System (RBRVS), a few legislators thought to take the easy road and arbitrarily cut payment for the technical component in outpatient imaging in an effort to cut Medicare spending." Invoices for 2006 LARS/SCROS Membership were mailed in October 2005.  Thos members with outstanding dues will receive final invoices in July.  Members without outstanding dues as of September 1 will have memberships suspended.  Suspended memberships may be reinstated by reapplication for membership. Pay dues on line
