Learning Objectives:

At the end of Dr. D’Orsi’s lectures, the attendee will be able to:

  • Identify the key changes to the BIRADS terminology, assessment and classification criteria for mammography, breast MRI and breast ultrasound and incorporate it into their current practice.
  • Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of tomosynthesis and demonstrate how the images are acquired and interpreted. 
  • Correlate benign and malignant cases seen on Tomosynthesis with mammography, ultrasound and MRI. 
  • Assess the benefits and pitfalls of digital mammography and correlate benign and malignant cases seen on US, MRI with digital mammography.

At the end of Dr. Lehman’s lectures, the attendee will be able to:

  • Evaluate the new ACR Breast MRI practice guideline and integrate it into their current practice. 
  • Demonstrate the requirements for becoming an accredited facility to perform Breast MRI
  • Perform the technical aspects of Breast MRI on a 1.5 T and 3T scanner. 
  • Correlate benign and malignant cases seen on Breast MRI with a 1.5 T and 3T scanner with mammography and ultrasound.

At the end of Ms. Rinella’s lectures, the attendee will be able to

  • Recognize the major causes and risk factors for Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) for mammography technologists.
  • Use proper body mechanics while positioning patients for mammograms
  • Implement simple preventative measures in the workplace
  • Recognize why consistent high quality mammography positioning technique is essential and illustrate examples of proper and improper positioning technique
  • Demonstrate techniques to improve mammography positioning for the CC and MLO views

At the end of Dr. Sickle’s lectures, the attendee will be able to

  • Interpret calcifications seen on the mammograms with the BIRADS terminology and be able to discuss the appropriate management and follow up. 
  • Evaluate controversies that have arisen from screening mammography and manage the controversies in relation to the patients and referring clinicians. 
  • Evaluate controversies of screening ultrasound in high risk patients and
  • Incorporate current recommendations for screening in high risk patients. 

 

Continuing Education

Physicians:  The Lost Angeles Radiological Society (LARS) is accredited by the Institute for Medical Quality / California Medical Association (IMQ/CMA) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.  LARS takes responsibility for the content, quality and scientific integrity of this CME activity.  LARS designates this educational activity for a maximum of 7.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits(TM).  Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.  This credit may also be applied to the CMA Certification in Continuing Medical Education.

Physician's Certificate of Credit.  A Physicians will receive a 2-part Physician's Certificate of Credit during conference check-in.  It is the physician's responsibility to complete the certificate, marking courses attended, and to turn in the top copy of the form at the the completion of conference participation.  The bottom copy of the form is your CME certificate.  An additional certificate will not be sent to you following the meeting.

 

Technologists:  That ASRT has approved the Summer Seminar in Breast Imaging, July 17, 2010 for a maximum of 7.5 Category A CE units.  Technologist participants must complete each segment of the Seminar in its entirety to earn credit applied.  See Seminar Schedule for segments.  

Technologists Certificate of Attendance: Technologists will receive a 2-part Technologist's Certificate of Attendance during conference check-in.  It is the technologist's responsibility to complete the certificate, marking courses attended, and to turn in the top copy of the form at the the completion of conference participation.  The bottom copy of the form is your CE certificate.  An additional certificate will not be sent to you following the meeting.

  • FROM HOLLYWOOD AND POINTS NORTH.

    Take 101 Freeway to Los Angeles Street exit. Turn right on Los Angeles Street. Kyoto Grand Hotel and Gardens is approximately 3 blocks on the left at corner of Los Angeles Street and Second Street.

  • FROM SANTA MONICA.

    Take I-10 East to Los Angeles Street exit. Proceed North on I-110 and follow LAX directions as listed above.

  • FROM SAN DIEGO/ORANGE COUNTY.

    I-5 North, to 101 North, exit at Alameda, go straight to Los Angeles Street, turn left. Kyoto Grand Hotel and Gardens is approximately 3 blocks on the left at Los Angeles and Second Street.

  • FROM EAST AND INLAND EMPIRE-ONTARIO AIRPORT.
