The Department of Radiological Sciences at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA is recruiting for a full-time Professor (all ranks) to join the Abdominal Imaging Section. Clinical responsibilities will comprise coverage of all abdominal imaging inpatient and outpatient services at all hospitals (currently 4) and outpatient imaging centers (currently 10) in a rapidly expanding academic health system, UCLA Health. This position encompasses all major diagnostic (CT, MR, fluoroscopy, and Ultrasound) modalities, performance of image-guided procedures, and on-call/weekend coverage. The candidate will supervise and teach outstanding abdominal imaging fellows and excellent radiology residents. The candidate must be board-certified in radiology, fellowship trained in abdominal imaging, and eligible for California licensure. This position requires superior clinical, procedural, and teaching skills. Excellent knowledge and experience in abdominal and pelvic CT, MRI, Ultrasound (US), Gastrointestinal and Genitourinary contrast studies are required, and non-vascular intervention in the abdomen are highly favored. A clinical publication record will be viewed favorably. A broad interest in abdominal imaging and in the new field of artificial intelligence is favored, as is the ability to work collaboratively with other faculty and clinical colleagues in other disciplines. The potential candidate must be eligible for California licensure and American Board of Radiology certification. Fellowship training in Body/Abdominal or ER radiology is preferred. A strong interest and ability in teaching is needed. A collegial attitude and commitment to teamwork are highly favored. The Department is seeking candidates with the potential for being outstanding in the above-noted requirements in clinical work, research, and teaching, and in having a clear commitment to enhancing the diversity of the faculty, staff, and clinical trainees through teaching and mentoring activities.

Primary Responsibilities:

Explain the imaging process, address any questions or concerns, and ensure patients are comfortable and informed before beginning the procedure.

Ensure proper patient positioning for optimal imaging based on the type of screening while prioritizing patient comfort and safety.

Operate and adjust imaging equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images tailored to the specific screening procedure.

Accurately align patients with the imaging platform, adjust equipment parameters (e.g., exposure levels), and ensure image quality by reviewing for clarity and retaking images as necessary.

Adhere to strict radiation safety guidelines to protect patients, staff, and oneself from unnecessary exposure during procedures involving radiation.

Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as quality assurance and equipment safety standards.

Accurately document patient information, procedures performed, and relevant observations in medical records or imaging reports.

Work closely with radiologists and other healthcare providers to ensure timely and accurate image interpretation, contributing to effective patient care.

Provide clear information to patients about the importance of regular screenings, specific imaging procedures, and general health awareness.

Education and Experience:

Completion of a formal education program in radiologic technology or radiography, with a focus on mammography.
